Final Project - RallyCross Across America

https://www.dropbox.com/s/0xjppljwl7qa1ge/RallyCross-Final.swf

This is a map of all Regional RallyCross Challenges and the National RallyCross Championship sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).  I have used imagery from Google Maps for regional and site maps, and used artwork from the SCCA.  The audience for this map is someone that is looking to get involved in amateur off road automobile racing.  This map would help them find an event in their region where they could spectate, volunteer, or participate.

GGS 411 - Blogpost - Interesting Map - Final Interactive (4/16)

http://serbal.pntic.mec.es/ealg0027/europa3i.html

This map would be a useful tool to teach beginning geography students.  I scored 434/450...Damn you Malta and Andorra!

GGS 411 - Blog Post - Neat Effect - World Religious Dissemination

http://www2.div.ed.ac.uk/courses/Animated_Maps/Divinity_Map3/index.html

This map shows the dominant religion of different world regions throughout history.  The interesting effect is how the cartographer implements the introduction of new religions and cross-hatching to show areas where multiple religions have anchored a presence and are co-existing (peacefully or otherwise).  The cross-hatching using stripes of the symbolic color was particularly effect in portraying the mixture.

GGS 411 - Blog Post - Splash Screen - Holocaust Era Rescue Map

http://www.ushmm.org/wlc/en/media_nm.php?MediaId=3374

This map tells the efforts of Raoul Wallenberg and others who risked life and liberty to rescue Jews from Nazi Germany's "Final Solution," the mass genocide of Europe's Jewish population.  The effort saved thousands of lives, but while saving individuals and groups throughout the war, failed to convince Allied leaders of the atrocities being committed in Nazi death camps.

History has shown them to be on the right side of what was going on.  The debate over what could have been going on continues.

GGS 411 - Blogpost - 3D Maps - Sim City 4 Maps

When I think of 3D Maps, I think of video games like Sim City (building focussed) and Populous (terrain focussed).  Even doing the lab assignments in class with Sketch-up and Builder, I felt like I was designing gaming environments.
